trip to nashville

i basically ran from the tpc course to the jacksonville airport so i could fly up to nashville (my 3rd flight in 36 hours) to spend the weekend with em in nashville and meet her parents. well, we got in pretty late, and as i'm sitting exhausted on the couch, trying to get my head to decompress from the flight, it sorta slips out that i'm meeting the ENTIRE family at brunch the next morning.

well, i survived all that, and proved to emily once and for all that i am a "baby whisperer." her six month old??? niece was doing some pretty good crying for the better part of the morning. every time emily would pick her up, she would start to wail. soooo, i was of course gently mocking emily that she wasn't good with kids and we could never work out - she hands me the kid. so, i've just met the whole family and now i've been given a crying baby. so, i did what any guy would do, i talked to the baby about how burritos are made and about the clothing strategy employed by the gap. well, of course the baby was enthralled with our conversation and immediately stopped crying (and stayed tear free for the next 30 minutes). i later asked emily if she was secretly hoping the baby would keep crying - response....."yes, but i knew she wouldn't."

anyway, we had a great weekend and i really enjoyed meeting her family, including getting to tour my old covation stomping grounds in nashvegas. i made it out to southstreet and noshville and a bar or two. here's a picture from the restroom of some wall graffiti.

that really made me feel at home

here's a pic of em and her sister holly. they're cute

and here's one of emily with some guy.

not pictured are emily's mom, dad, grandmother, middle sister rachel, cousin, cousin, cousin's girlfriend, cousin, cousin's husband, cousin's 3 girls, aunt, uncle and other nebulous psuedo-relatives. it was a fun weekend, and since emily was so sweet to me, i won't torture her when we meet all my family.

tpc sawgrass

weeeeeelllll i played the tpc at sawgrass. i only had enough time to get in 11 holes, but my score was high enough for it to have been a full round. the course was sweet, but my game left something to be desired. the only reason this is on the blog, though is because of the tpc's most famous hole....number 17. i was closest to the pin in my foursome at about 12 feet away. all four of us ended up parring the hole. that was about enough for me to be happy with the 108 dollar cost.

early date

all right, i'm a little behind, but here goes. dateline june 11, i invited relatively new girlfriend emily over for an EARLY morning date. it was a secret date, and she was NOT excited about getting up at 6:30 on a saturday.....but she was a good sport, and so i'm not putting the early morning picture of emily drinking hot chocolate in the blog.

so, in a slight drizzle we walked over to chihooly and entered through the parkside entrance. there was an exhibit there of model trains and scaled models of all of the major buildings in atlanta built from tree bark and leaves. it was really amazing and emily loved it. here are some of the buildings

the atlanta capitol

and turner field

we also checked out the gardens a little bit because emily had never been before (i know, i was shocked too).
here are a couple of pictures of orchids, a unique plant, and finally the chihooly blown glass piece that was donated to the gardens after that exhibit left.

afterwards, i took emily back to the house and showed her what breakfast was supposed to look like. i made her muffins and eggs and bacon. it was yummy. as ice cube said "today was a good day."
